Its a ZOO!

We have a routine now. Whenever we hear crunching in the dining room we know the possum has arrived. We never see him come in from the cat door. So I started to think that the possum was sleeping under the couch during the day.
After checking several days, and finding no possum under the couch, I assumed that the little Houdini must be sneaking out silently. Then, two nights ago, we heard noise in the wall. Damn! Must be that the possum has found a way into the wall between the bathrooms and our bedroom.
Dad confirmed that there was a hole behind the couch that I didn't know about. He should have known that the hole would be entered eventually.
So last night I heard crunching at 2:30 am and I rushed to the living room with my piece of drywall in hand. Of course by the time I got there the critter was already back in the hole. So I sat in the hall and waited. A few minutes later I saw a snout poking out of the hole. A figure emerged slowly. It was a raccoon. Then another snout and a second raccoon came out and headed for the food. A third snout peaked out but took a long time to emerge.
As soon as the last raccoon headed for the food I approached the hole. They heard me and scurried toward me and got into the hole before I could get there. So they are back in the wall and I went to bed. Maybe tonight I will win. Please God, before they use my couch as a toilet.
